Federal Student Loan Consolidation

student loan?

February 26th, 2010 · 3 Comments · Uncategorized

i had a student loan in 1991 of 0 after all these years it was taken from my tax refund which i was truly glad happened knowing they dont go away my problem now is that the collection agency that didnt collect the debt wants me to pay them for in my opinion not to do their job. Its a small amount but I told them that the loan was paid in full and that if their charge was legit they would’ve gotten their money. Was I right or wrong. They still want 8 should I just pay them for not doing anything

What you need to do is request, in writing via certified, return-receipt mail, that the debt they have been validated for you. Not verified, but validated.

Check the web site below for more information as well as a sample letter:

You need to get some documentation showing that the debt was satisfied after being taken out of your tax refund. Get that, send it to the collection agency along with a cease and desist contact letter and your problem will be solved.
